I went to the hospital when my roommate was having her baby. She was in labor for 15 hours and there were 7 other people in the room. It was weird.

I'm also a big proponent of just the basics in the room... I want my space...a girlfriend had a party in her labour room... and there was barely any room for movement...

The order will be hubby in the room, siblings get first visits then anyone else... if we're awake and okay...
thanks for stopping by my blog :)

Oh man! That is awful! I just don't get it when people assume they can be present. You have every right to say who can and can't be there. I'm with you. I only had medical staff and my husband there. No one else was invited thank you very much. Good luck!

What is the deal with birthing 'parties'? I just had my husband! And quite frankly I was not thrilled with the fact that the hospital let anyone and everyone in MINUTES after I delivered. You know it would be nice if the hospital was the BAD GUY so you could be off the hook. I mean I love my brother but really didn't want to see him 5 minutes after giving birth.

Oh, I am dying to know the family member bugging you??? Is it your mother in law or your mom??? It sounds like a mother in law or mom thing to do.

Stopping by from Supah's!

Some people just need to get used to disappointment.

LOL! It was just me and Foxy for both of ours. My parents were right outside the door for the first and eating lunch with Daughter and Step-Daughter for Son. That is how it should be.

Kellie, I seriously LOVE your blog!! You have no IDEA how many people think that they "need to be there" because they are the 2nd cousin once removed..... I ask EVERY one of my patients who they want in the room, and then I DO become the "bad guy" and kick everyone else out. I tell them "sorry it is our policy to only have the support person in the room. Our waiting room looked like a watering hole in Africa on a hot summer day, last time I worked those first time mom's families are the WORST, everyone and their dog seems to come out of the woodwork and they get to wait HOURS.... sometimes I laugh, especially when as soon as Mom is complete... they think the baby should just fall out.

My MIL talked about her being there when one of the kids was born--can't remember which one and even mentioned FIL. I was like ummm NO and NO WAY. My mom and hubby and anyone else must be holding a medical degree in hand. You go girl.

Don't you just love the entitled family members?

Ok,. THAT is hysterical!

I wish I could have written that note to my MOTHER IN LAW who just sort of somehow busted her way in to the delivery room with my first, and was pissed I wouldn't let her in with the second. Seriously, it's quite a story, but I can't write about it, since she reads my blog.
